In July and August, on a quiet day, cast a
Tiny Torpedo to within 6" of a rocky shoreline and twitch
it back. Pull it 6", then crank it slowly but steadly for
a few turns of your reel handle, then pull another 6" and
jerk it a little, let it sit still, then move it some more, etc.
Do this until you get about 15 feet away from shore and reel
it in rapidly planning out your next cast in your head. Put it
back next to shore and do the dance all over again. Some days,
smallmouth bass will literally explode out of the water to bite
that wounded, but still kicking "frog". But remember
to cast it right at the edge of the shoreline. You are trying
to trick an opportunistic fish, into thinking that a frog (or
minnow, crayfish, etc.) has lost his mind and decided to go for
casual swim. A seemingly easy mark and the fish's greed generally
do the fish in everytime. Hmmm...almost sounds like humans and
those deals they just can't pass up! Set the hook and reel him
in! LOL
Tiny Torpedos cast like their namesake. Use
6-10 lb. test on a medium /light action rod.
