Drifter ERC Hellhounds have the phrase "a blast to cast" written all over them! These are glide baits. Cast out a Hellhound over the top of weed beds and over reefs on an overcast warm day when the lake is as calm as a mirror. Crank the slack, and give it a steady, full pull with your rod, then slack up the rod and watch it glide toward you. Crank up the slack and do it all over again. Cast in the same spot about 3 times before your move. You want to invade the musky's territory and thumb your nose at him with a Hellhound. Don't forget to do a "classic figure 8" before you pull the Hellhound out for another shot. Hellhounds will also work well in a chop but you'll have a harder time watching the plug as it glides just below the surface. Brace for impact in either case!

Smolltii from Finland will do muskies, trout, northern pike, walleyes, and a whole bunch of other fish. Cast, troll or vertical jig them. They sink slower than traditional jigging spoons and act like a darting flashy plug-type lure. Get 'em while we got 'em!
Smollti weigh 21 grams each or 3/4 ounces. They are made with a dense foam that wraps around a brass core and attract a wide variety of fish. Cast them or jig them vertically. You can also troll them for lakers, salmon, and muskies. |
