I've been there, done that! Once while getting out of an unanchored pull-behind shelter on a big lake, my partner and I got to wach as the wind, very suddenly, took our Clam Guide and proceded to make it roll like a tumbleweed in a gypsum desert. . For 75 feet, it flipped and flopped turning my camera, flasher, and about our fishing rods into a large macrame' flower pot holder. What a tangled mess. fortunately, nothing broke.

We really should have had an ice anchor in place. The auger was out on the ice. But back then, we didn't have this cool, fast ice anchor called the Valhalla Ice Lock.

TheValhalla Ice Lock is a spring activated engineering marvel. It's simple, fast and holds very quickly, plus it won't let go until you say so. Drill a hole at least 6 inches into the ice with a 6 to 10" auger, release the latch and slide the lock into the hold. Try pulling up on the little bugger. Let go of it. Unlike other similar looking anchors, the Valhalla Ice Lock stays put and doesn't fall to the bottom of the hole. Hook on a bungy cord or use the supplied rope lock and prevent your pop-up or pull-behind from blowing down the lake. Nothing flies as fast as an airborne popup sailing down the lake like a large bumbershoot (umbrella - for those of you not versed in goofy English). Not only that, when your pop-up blasts off, you will end up snapping critical poles and maybe even a hub. Sure, you can get replacements parts but this day is now shot and the parts are going to cost you. Wind damage is NOT covered by warranty for ANY brand, make, or model of pop-up or pull behind. Trust me, they can identify a pop-up that went airborne so no matter how much whining, swearing, crying and threatening you do, you are not getting a free popup after mishandling your original one by not securing it.

So, get yourself a cool little piece of security. Before you open up the popup or pull behind, drill your holes and drill one or two anchor holes outside. Attach a bungy cord for a tether to your Valhalla Ice Lock (s) and then pop up the tent or pull-behind. Make sure you anchor down the pop-up with your supplied ice anchors in all four corners. You can trust the Ice Lock to hold but having only one anchor down is going to allow your shelter to flop around on the ice with you in it. Not a pleasant experience so employ some common sense at all times when it comes to anchoring - well and everything else, but start with the anchors. Fits 6" to 10" holes.

The Valhalla Ice Lock is made of 10 guage steel and Made in the United States of America. All shipped models will be powder coated black. One Year parts or replacement warranty at our option.

Warning: The Valhalla Ice Lock is not a toy. Even though it makes you feel like a Viking as you hold it in you hand and roar, if you hit your buddy with it, you are going to harm him and you are on your own. If you fall on it, you may end yourself or cause some serious injuries. You will not be able to pull out a car, snowmobile or four wheeler stuck in slush with this ice anchor. It is intended for anchoring ice shelters and that's it. It is not designed or intended for rescue/recovery operations of any kind. To use it for anything other than securing an ice shelter to the ice is done entirely at your own risk. It must not be used for ice climbing or any other goofy, adrenalin or liquid courage-induced endeavors. Bent up Valhalla Ice Locks will have their warranty voided. If you are unable to apply a modicum of common sense while using this product, please do not buy it.
