Clam's - The Hub - 2 Man Ice Fishing Shelter |
||||||||||
| To date, there are four manufacturers of these wildly popular ice fishing shelters. Eskimo, Eastman, Shappell and now Clam. We stock them all. they all have their fans for whatever reason (mainly because their buddy has one and it, specifically, is the best). But here's the real scoop. They are all pretty good and reliable. Clam's tents have what feels like a more supple materia than all the other tent fabrics used by the other guys. And, like all of Clam's other pull-behind shelters, these tents nicely designed and more resistant to freezing into the ice than the other brands. The sewing is precise and the set-up/break-down is quick. The only detail that they don't offer that all the other ice shelter brands have is peel-off windows. All three other companies offer peel-off windows which appeals to some fisherman. Not a real huge deal and I think the more supple fabric makes up for it and then some especially when you are frosting it up by breathing inside all day long. It will fold up a little bit easier than specifically the Eskimo and Eastman tents. |

Most comparable to the Shappell Icehouse 5000 in size. This tent and the Shappell are both a little bigger than the Eskimo Quick Fish 2 and the Eastman Ice Cube. Set-up/Breakdown is virtually the same across all brands and models. |
