| Clam's popup ice fishing tents have have become the fisherman's mainstay when it comes to roominess, easy set-up and affordable price. Clam uses 600 denier fabric in all of their tents with what feels to me like a more supple material than all the other tent fabrics used by the other guys and it is definitely thicker cloth which makes the Clam Command Post about 45 lbs. compared to the Eskimo Quick Fish 6 coming in at 38 lbs. WE just weighed them in the store and YES, they are similar in set-up size but the Clam ice shelter is definitely heavier duty. And, like all of Clam's other pull-behind-style shelters (Fishtrap Series), these tents nicely designed and more resistant to freezing into the ice than the other brands. The sewing is precise and the set-up/break-down is quick. The only detail that they don't offer that all the other ice shelter brands have, is peel-off windows but with the hundreds of these pop-ups that we've sold, NONE have had warranty issues with the windows in ALL condtions from cold to extremely cold. The Eskimo pop-ups we sell have peel out windows for easy replacement and they experience substantially more breakage so it's half a dozen of one, six of the other with less hassle in the Clam tents from our experience. Now, that doesn't mean you won't have problems, but that's why they make warranties - call Clam. This is a HUGE tent with two doors and it's a little bigger than the Eskimo Quick Fish 6. It opens up quick ly to make one 6' X 12' room at the base. You could play catch inside. You could fish on one end and have tip-ups on the other end so you wouldn't have to put on your parka when you have to run to grab your tip-up. All Clam Pop-ups come with reinforced shaft collars on their poles at the hubs for longer wear, beefy ice anchors, tie-down cords, & carry bag. They no longer have grommets in the corner flaps. Tie them down from the hubs - which is easier anyway or use the interior straps with grommets. Just slip screw inthe anchors inside and slip the grommet on the end of the straps (on the walls near bottom of tent in corners) over the end of the anchor handles. Shovel or kick snow around the outside flaps to block out the wind. If you have a group or family and need a shelter to fish or warm up in at an open air hockey game, Clam's Command Post will set up fast and takedown the same. For how much these tents cost and how much fun they are to be in, they sure don't cost a lot of money. Click on the link to order to get the price of this great big ice popup. |
