Here's something new that stands the "old way" on its ear. I know a lot of ice fisherman who use clip-on bells on the end of their ice rods. They then set their rods up in a rod hold and go play cards or watch TV (12 V DC sets out on the ice- yeah, I know...it's wrong). When the fish pulls on the rod, the bells ding. Simple, makes sense and should work every time. HOWEVER, you gotta wonder how many fish have you been missing in this whole "simple" process? None, right? Well HOW do you know? You were watching TV, remember? You were enjoying a beverage and talking rather loudly while telling off-color jokes. Did you notice that the bell barely moved? It DID move and you missed it.
Did you hear the really light bite? You know the one where the 5 lb. perch just licked your Lunar Jig and waxie and then held it gently between his lips, trying to decide if he should swim away with his snack or spit it out and go chase girls. How'd the bell work out for you then? Did you even know that "then" occured? Course not! The bell is dumb! Bell can't talk! Bell doesn't even know what it's supposed to be doing! It just sits there waiting for somebody to ring it -hard- not pull it gently. Every bell I've ever seen has to be rung with vigor to be heard. Ever see anybody move slowly when ringing a bell? Bell is a great idea when fish are pounding, but when they're not, the bell is just extra hardware. They are cheap though....and ineffective.
Enter the FlexBite Combo for ice fishing. The guy who came up with this gizmo was a rocket scientist, I'm guessing. This little doodad sits on an ice fishing rod and you can set the sensitivity on it. Unlike a dumb, mute bell hanginig off a spring, the FlexBite can be set for itty-bitty bites, blood curdling attacks and everything in between. Got finicky fish? Set it so that a veritable feather will touch it off. It BEEPS and flashes a blue light with the breath of bluegill on your jig, or when ever-so-slightly pulling down your extra sensitive bobber that you aren't watching intensely. (remember, you're STILL watching TV) This is something that the dumb bell could never do. Bell doesn't take care of you, it just uses and deceives you. You need FlexBite....
Top off the whole FlexBite shebang with a decent rod holder and ice rod with good quality reel and you are set to go! Pick up a couple of these FlexBites today and test 'em out yourself. Why miss fish? Or when applied to your humble correspondent: Why not hear all the fish I'm going to miss anyway? At least I know something is there! Everybody else catches them - I just talk about it a lot. -JB-

The FlexBite combo ice fishing system is a complete package. You get the rod, the stand, 2 batteries, a very nice reel, and the FlexBite computer thing. All you need to do is put in one battery, put line on the reel and rig up your favorite bait. The combo breaks down with a thumbscrew for hauling about and if you want, you even use your own rod holder. You don't have to use theirs to get the same effect, but it is handy. This is an ice fishing rod system that you just don't want to miss. Order Here
