NEW! Snagless Walleye Kit is perfect for Trolling down deep!

The super slick Teflon Coating virtually repels weeds and snags of all kinds. Line tension keeps the wire tail at an angle to the bottom. The cone shaped body allows T-weight to shed weeds and slide through rocks & timber with ease. This Kit includes Hooks, Barrell Swivels and Teflon coated bottom walking sinkers and 2 sizes of T-weight.

The Snap-swivel Controversy

Yes- I know, ALL of the fishing lure companies highly recommend that you do not use a snap swivel because it supposedly inhibits the action of the lure. I, on the other hand, beg to differ!

With a little #10 swivel, every plug works fine with the exception of Ugly Ducklings (MUST use crankbait snaps only for these to work at all!) . I've tried it both ways (with and without swivels) and haven't seen marked improvements in lure action when not using swivels for plugs of varying size. I've been using snap swivels for 35 years with good success and prefer size 10 swivels for general fishing. I've also guided all sorts of fisherfolk who were subject to too much reading before their fishing trip. While we were bobbing up and down in 2 foot waves, they'd be trying to tie a new plug on for 10 minutes in the screaming wind because that's what it said on the lure box. Meanwhile, in 10 seconds, I could reel in, change lures, and be back in the water. What's the rush? You're on a school of walleyes, the water's rough as a cob, and they're not going to wait for you to tie the new-improved-clinch-knot. Either you can fish, or we can set you up on shore with a good book.

I used to be handing out snap swivels like chips at the Super Bowl and I finally got smart. I insisted that everybody bought a pack of them before we left shore. They don't cost much and I've never had one fail. Also, the ball bearing ones only cost more money, they don't work any better for line tangling when trolling with spinner rigs. Just get the basics and you'll do fine.
